Nashville, Tennessee, United States
In the summer of 1984 Deborah and I went to the Philippines for a “one-month” summer mission trip that never ended. The church we helped start, Victory Manila, now meets in fifteen locations in Metro Manila and has plantedchurches in sixty Philippine cities and twenty nations. Every week more than 10,000 Victory Groups (small discipleship groups) meet in coffee shops, offices, dormitories, and homes all over Metro Manila.
I have the best job in the world, serving as the president of Every Nation Churches & Ministries, a ministry that does church planting and campus ministry in over seventy nations. I also get to serve on the board of the Real LIFE Foundation, a faith-based non-profit with the vision of seeing thousands of marginalized Filipino youth educated, gainfully employed, and uplifting their communities.
Every few years I write a book. Occasionally I post a blog. Almost everyday, I tweet discipleship tips, leadership principles, and random sarcastic observations about life. Sometimes I ride a motorcycle (1200GS), but not often enough. Our three adult sons were born and raised in the Philippines and now reside in the United States. We also have three beautiful daughters-in-law and one granddaughter and three grandsons, who are the center of the universe. After living in the Philippines for twenty-four years, Deborah and I now split time between Manila, Nashville, and Delta Airlines.
